Are Armitron Watches Good? Armitron Watches Review

Perhaps you’ve noticed an Armitron timepiece while shopping for an affordable watch. Some of their watches are so distinctively designed and priced that they immediately bring to mind the iconic G-Shock line from Casio. To what extent, however, are Armitron watches good? Do they live up to expectations? Let’s go further into this question and find out.

Armitron is neither good nor bad. Nothing special is offered that can’t be found elsewhere. It makes cheap timepieces with a well-known brand that does well in the marketplace.

Armitron has a limited, low-quality watch assortment. Most consumers will find the apparel unappealing and innovative design hasn’t been used. On the other hand, the value you get much exceeds the cost.

Even though just a select handful of Armitron models are likely to appeal to the vast majority of watch buyers, the brand may be worth considering. There is at least one model that may be a good choice if your budget is tight enough to allow you to buy one of these watches.

The good news is that you won’t have to pass it on from parent to offspring. Instead, you need a new one only when the old one stops operating.

Armitron history

The beginning

In the 1950s, a man called Eugen Gluck created Armitron. The company’s main office was located in Little Neck, New York.

E. Gluck Corporation (formerly known as E. Gluck Trading Company) was a wholly owned subsidiary of Armin Corporation when it first began doing business, which is how Armitron came to be. It catered specifically to the market for LED-powered, five-function digital timepieces. Armitron is an amalgamation of the names Armin and electronics. Armitron watches were produced at a specially developed plant in Arlington, Texas. The watches’ Swiss-made cases and Hong Kong-made bands were used in their production.

Armitron in 1975

Relationships between E. Gluck Trading Company and Armin Corporation ended in 1975. Despite changing its corporate structure, E. Gluck Corporation has continued to operate under the Armitron name. Armitron watches included LCD (liquid crystal display) screens, as LED displays proved less reliable over time. These LCD watches were paired with robust and precise Japanese quartz movements. This precision timepiece was eventually upgraded with additional features, including alarms and chronographs.

Brand awareness

Armitron’s association with many professional sports teams and players helped make the brand famous during the 1980s. Professional athletes such as Jerry Rice, Boomer Esiason, Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, Larry Bird, and others served as brand ambassadors. Armitron is still one of the Yankees’ official sponsors.

Armitron nowadays

Armitron is still making watches with quartz and automatic movements for both sexes in the present day. Armitron is a clock sponsor at Yankee Stadium beginning in the 2021-22 season and for the first season of American Gladiators.

Armitron watches overview

Armitron watches have been around for over 60 years and make timepieces for everyday people. Let’s find out more about this brand in the following lines.

Armitron makes affordable timepieces aimed at the mass market. As a result, it is reasonable to assume some variation in the quality of the watches, particularly concerning cost. There is a considerable gap when comparing the quality of a $20 watch to that of one costing close to $100. The plasticky lightness of certain Armitron timepieces is an issue.

The problem with Armitron, and other inexpensive watch brands, is that they have to skimp on quality to sell at such low prices. Therefore, you shouldn’t count on the finest quality components in these timepieces.

Many Armitron watches, for instance, have a finish that is easily scratched or chipped if subjected to a strong enough impact. After many months of usage, even the leather strap versions of several of the bands may become readily damaged. Some models’ clasps are also relatively loose and might require tightening up.

These watches may be low-end and inexpensive, but they tell time reliably and reliably. As an added bonus, you may find some of them somewhat stylish. You can wear them every day for at least two or three years before they break, so the price is reasonable (either the crown comes loose, the strap breaks or the chrome coating fades off, making the watch unattractive.).

Most watch lovers do not find Armitron timepieces to be visually pleasant. G-Shocks are a design cue that emerges on the less awful ones. They are extravagant not merely in size but also in the amount of gloss and excess to which many of them cling.

Timepieces in black and red or vivid blue do not necessarily go with a broad range of clothing. Most guys do not secretly wish they could buy a decorated watch. Armitron’s look is right on if you enjoy that kind of thing.

Most Armitron watches may be relied upon to function as advertised. About precision, I have few, if any, complaints. The digital and quartz timepieces sold by Armitron make precision unnecessary. Time, minute, second, day, and date are the standard functions of most Armitron watches.

Armitron is trying to provide the consumer with as much value as possible. There is much more to certain Armitron watches than meets the eye; they perform similarly to popular Japanese quartz watch brands and have timing features, alarms, countdown timers, perpetual calendars, and more.

The cost-effectiveness of the Armitron name is its primary selling point. The price of an Armitron watch is so low that it is within reach of almost everybody. The vast majority of these devices can be obtained for less than $30, with the most expensive ones seldom going above $90.

That cost gets you a fully functional sports watch resistant to water depths of 50 to 100 meters.

There are certainly worse ways to spend $20 to $30 than on a watch. It’s also worth noting that if it stops functioning, you can get a new one for less than thirty bucks and replace it immediately.

Armitron watches are water-resistant. However, the level of water resistance will vary depending on the watch model. Some Armitron watches are only water-resistant up to 30 meters, while others may be able to withstand depths of 100 meters or more. So, if you’re looking for an Armitron watch to take swimming or diving, check the specs before purchasing.

Armitron watches are designed to withstand the rigors of everyday wear and tear. However, they are not immune to damage from impact or sudden movements. While Armitron watches are built to be tough, they can still be damaged by shocks.

If you drop your Armitron watch or subject it to a hard impact, it is possible that the internal components could be damaged. This could result in the watch being unable to keep accurate time or even stop working entirely. If your watch has been subjected to a shock, it is essential to take it to a qualified Armitron service center for inspection.

The reasonable cost of Armitron products is perhaps their most vital selling point. To put it simply, Armitron is a brand that aims for the cheaper end of the market. Armitron makes many affordable timepieces, which cost less than $30.

The Armitron 204604DBSVBK Dress Swarovski is one of the Armitron watches available in the $20 price range.

Best Armitron watches

There are many reasons to own an Armitron watch:

  1. They are dependable timepieces.
  2. They are affordable; the most expensive Armitron watch would be affordable for anyone.
  3. They come in various styles that range from traditional to contemporary.
  4. They have some exclusives that are hard to find elsewhere.

So, according to our research, we will go over some of the best Armitron watches on the market.

Armitron Men’s 20/4677GNTT

Armitron Men’s 20/4677GNTT

Something about this gorgeous emerald green watch color is almost captivating, and the two-tone style of this timepiece adds the finishing touch to the outfit.

While it may not be to everyone’s taste, it does include some of the most innovative features we’ve seen.

Compared to more expensive luxury watches, the Japanese quartz mechanism holds its own. The watch’s exquisite design can be seen through the mineral dial glass, which is also water-resistant to a depth of 165 feet. This timepiece is water-resistant to a depth of 50 meters and may be worn in the shower or while swimming.

Armitron Men’s 204309GYTT Two-Tone

Armitron Men’s 204309GYTT Two-Tone

The 204309GYTT may be for you if you’re a man who enjoys the occasional flash but prefers a more classic style. This model looks like it might have been made decades ago, and its 37-millimeter-wide face is a throwback to classic proportions.

The 204309GYTT is loaded with convenient extras. The dial is off-white with a sunburst pattern and a day-date window at 3 o’clock.

The two gold stripes on the bracelet complement the gold bezel and complete the look of the all-metal watch case and dial. This item is waterproof up to 50 meters.

Armitron Sport Men’s 40/8188 Digital Chronograph

Armitron Sport Men’s 40/8188 Digital Chronograph

The 40/8188 is another option if you’re looking for a compact sports watch. The width of the case on this one is 48.7 millimeters, and the width of the strap is 22 millimeters, so it seems a bit more balanced than others.

However, the orange border and trim may be a bold statement.

The 40/8188 has an unusual color scheme but is powered by a reliable quartz movement that accurately displays the time, day of the week, and even the date. This sports watch is not only water resistant to 100 meters, but it also has a timer, a chronograph, and a backlight.

The 40/8188’s massive pushers are one of its most acceptable characteristics since they make reaching all controls more accessible. And for around $20, it’s a steal.

Armitron Ridgemont™

Armitron Ridgemont™

It’s hard to find a more practical and reasonably priced watch than the Armitron Ridgemont. In addition to its traditional dial, this watch also has a digital display for extra convenience. Time, date, weekday, month, 12/24H format, stopwatch, alarm, and EL backlighting are all included.

The watch can be worn even if it gets wet and includes a light so you can see the time when it’s dark.

The watch is powered by a manual Self-Winding mechanical movement and has to be wound at least six or seven times before it can be worn. Given that it is mechanical, you should not count on the kind of precision that you get with a quartz watch.

In conclusion

Our research shows that Armitron watches are generally well-received by consumers. Most people report being happy with their purchase, finding the watch stylish and affordable. There are some complaints about the quality of the material, but overall it seems that Armitron is an excellent brand to consider if you’re in the market for a new cheap watch. It barely costs anything for most of their models.
